For many girls puberty is a difficult time at which they have to change a whole bunch of bodily and psychological changes. The fact that puberty doesn’t happen all at the same time on boys and girls makes it even difficult to go through.
According to the surveys, almost 90% of eleven-year-olds are perfectly aware that they are soon bound to enter the time of changes. Although not many of them actually recognises the term puberty, they all know the changes are soon to come. The surveys are unanimous in one of their conclusions that for girls puberty is much more of a big deal than for boys. Apparently, girls are uncertain of an outcome of all these changes. In particular, they fear the changes might not go exactly as planned since it is very difficult to predict the final effect. In some cases the process makes short girls excessively tall or the other way round. Another aspect of girls puberty which is menstruation is even more frightening. They simply have no clue what it will be like and how it will change their lives. In order to give them a chance to learn more about menstruation, the biology course offers a number of subjects directly involving the symptoms, progress and effects of the period.
